Glyndebourne enjoys a long history of delivering workshops which prepare young people for their first visit to an opera.

During the week in which Glyndebourne on Tour is performing at the Regent Theatre, Stoke on Trent (10–14 November), Glyndebourne Education is offering schools the opportunity to have a bespoke workshop given by a team from the Company on site at your school.

The Magic Flute workshop is suitable for all ages and is designed to prepare the young attenders for their special matinee performance of Mozart’s comic opera at the Regent Theatre on 14 November.

For a total price of £100, the team from Glyndebourne (animateur, pianist and singers from the Company) will visit your school and deliver a bespoke session lasting 2 hours 30 minutes. The workshop provides an introduction to opera and will focus on Mozart’s musical style and the themes and characters of The Magic Flute through a combination of engaging practical activities. Singers from the Company will also perform extracts from The Magic Flute providing the sneak preview of the live opera experience.

How do I book?

If you are interested in booking a workshop for your school, or if you would like to take part in a workshop with other local schools, please indicate preferred dates by circling sessions on the table, which can be found on the booking form.

We will then contact you to confirm a date for our visit.

NB the school hosting this session will need a room large enough for practical activities and a tuned piano.
