Applicants from all backgrounds, and with varying levels of practical experience will be considered. However, there is an enormous demand for places, and not all applications will be successful. It is important that you make it clear why you want to do your work experience at Glyndebourne, which departments interest you and why. Glyndebourne is interested in hearing from a wide range of applicants, with different perspectives and experiences. We are happy to meet any access needs that we reasonably can; for some, we may need to do this in partnership with others (school/college etc).
Unfortunately, we cannot place applicants who are under 16. Those with no relevant and thorough technical experience will not be placed in any of our technical or making departments (for example Wardrobe, Stage Management or Props). Those with no experience will be offered placements in administrative departments, but where possible opportunities will be provided to see rehearsals and / or performances. Many past applicants have still found the experience to be invaluable, and have often commented on how exciting it is to be in the unique atmosphere of Glyndebourne!
Applications must be received at least 2 months before your requested start date.
Because of the enormous demand for places, all candidates are asked to use the application form. We must receive your application 2 months before your proposed start date. In order to ensure the right level of time and resources are allocated to each person, places are limited and all applications received after the deadline may not be accepted. It is also important to be as clear as possible in your application why work experience is sought at Glyndebourne.
Please download and complete the appropriate application. NB Separate application form for work experience in the Costume department.
