From 2005 to 2007, young people from Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent participated in weekly workshops exploring the key areas associated with opera, with the aim of creating their very own.
Three groups worked together to create a horror opera, Still Water, which culminated in one big performance at the New Vic Theatre. The programme also provided opportunities to work with visiting artists from Glyndebourne Opera, visit productions and perform in some of the finest venues across the county and city.
Youth Operatunity was a partnership between Make Some Noise, The New Vic Theatre, The Victoria Hall, The Regent Theatre, The Lichfield Garrick, and Glyndebourne education. Youth Operatunity was funded by Youth Music, Arts Council West Midlands, Lichfield District Council, Staffordshire County Council, Lichfield Conduit Lands and the three venues.
