Glyndebourne will continue to receive £1,629,055 per year in funding from Arts Council England (ACE) for the period of 2018-22, it was announced today.
This will cover around 30% of the projected annual costs of Glyndebourne Tour (celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018) and its pioneering education programme.
Other funding required for Glyndebourne Tour is raised through tickets sales, the support of members, donors and sponsorship. The Tour continues to be subsidised by the Glyndebourne Festival, which is a charity and strives to remain financially independent. Glyndebourne’s education programme is also further supported by investment from Glyndebourne’s New Generation Programme and donors.
Sebastian F Schwarz, General Director of Glyndebourne, said,
‘We are delighted that ACE is continuing to recognise the value and excellence of Glyndebourne Tour and the company’s education department.
‘We look forward to working with ACE to help achieve their vision of “Great Art and Culture for Everyone”. We feel proud of the outstanding reputation we already enjoy in the areas of audience development – within which we have been able to offer children and young people affordable access to extraordinary opera – and for nurturing the great musicians of the future.
‘This funding will help enable Glyndebourne to continue to provide exceptional return on the investment being made by ACE, by delivering world-class performances to as broad an audience as possible through live performance, digital initiatives, and a ground-breaking programme of education activity.’
