Glyndebourne has been shortlisted in the Achievement in Opera category of the 2015 UK Theatre Awards for ‘an outstandingly well planned and performed season’.
The UK Theatre Awards are the only awards which celebrate achievement in theatre throughout the United Kingdom.
David Pickard, General Director of Glyndebourne said: ‘I am delighted that the 2015 Glyndebourne Festival has been shortlisted for this award. We planned a bold and ambitious programme that not only attracted great critical acclaim but also struck a chord with audiences and achieved 95% financial attendance at the box office. It was thrilling to see each of the six productions in the season play to near capacity houses as well as reaching many thousands more through television, radio, cinema and online broadcasts.’
Glyndebourne will be competing against Opera North and Scottish Opera in the Achievement in Opera category.
It is also in the running for the 2015 Most Welcoming Theatre Award which is decided by a public vote. Cast your vote by 12 noon on Friday 25 September 2015.
The 2015 UK Theatre Awards take place on Sunday 18 October in London.
Two productions from the 2015 Glyndebourne Festival can be seen again as part of the 2015 Glyndebourne Tour which opens on 10 October .
