Glyndebourne has won the Achievement in Opera category at the 2015 UK Theatre Awards for ‘an outstandingly well planned and performed season’.
The award was in recognition of a successful 2015 Glyndebourne Festival which featured new productions of Handel’s Saul, Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Donizetti’s Poliuto.
David Pickard, General Director of Glyndebourne said: ‘I am delighted that Glyndebourne has won this award. The organisation has never been afraid to take creative risks and this year we planned a bold and ambitious Festival programme that not only attracted great critical acclaim but also struck a chord with audiences. This accolade caps off a truly memorable summer.’
The 2015 UK Theatre Awards took place yesterday (18 October) in London.
Two of the 2015 Glyndebourne Festival productions can currently be seen as part of the 2015 Glyndebourne Tour.
