Glyndebourne’s 2012 Festival will reach a global audience of millions through innovative digital partnerships with The Guardian Newspaper Group and Picturehouse Entertainment.
The 78th Glyndebourne Festival will have an enhanced digital portfolio that sees Glyndebourne’s worldwide reach expanded through the second year of its successful Guardian partnership. The 2012 campaign sees five operas in this year’s Festival streamed free at: “www.guardian.co.uk”:
The 2011 Guardian partnership was a UK first, with the newspaper group hosting the first live opera streaming by any UK opera house or newspaper group. The 2012 partnership exceeds that by streaming five of this year’s six opera’s (three of which are live) and hosting them on the Guardian website (on demand) for two weeks after their first streaming.
The Guardian and Picturehouse 2012 productions are:
June 10th: Janá?ek’s The Cunning Little Vixen
June 22nd: Rossini’s La Cenerentola
July 20th: Purcell’s The Fairy Queen
August 17th: Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro
August 19th: Ravel’s L’heure espagnole&L’enfant et les sortileges

The 2012 Picturehouse Entertainment partnership sees over 50 UK cinemas host operas from this summer’s Glyndebourne Festival and this reach is set to expand further thanks to significant international interest from overseas cinemas screening Glyndebourne’s operas, bringing new audiences even closer to the exceptional opera experience.
